TRAVERTINO - is a facade plaster with the effect of natural stone. It contains acrylic copolymer, milled travertine, extenders, water and additives. Sometimes people called TRAVERTINO "a liquid travertine". But you shouldn't mix up. Liquid travertine is a dry mixture of fine-grained travertine particles and copolymer binder, which are dozed in buckets and require to add water before use. Facade plaster with the effect of natural stone TRAVERTINO is a ready-to-use mixture for interior and exterior works.
Decorative plaster TRAVERTINO refers to the group of quite popular finishing products from the point of view of price and quality. Though this type of facade plaster refers to an expensive price segment, its aesthetic and practical value is fully worth its money.
Due to the unique elaboration of elasticity level, facade plaster TRAVERTINO doesn't crack from vibration and small deformations. It also obtains high resistance to moisture, vapor permeability, endures easy freezing, high temperatures and any other weather effects, that prevent the surface from cracking. The plaster TRAVERTINO is used for exterior and for interior finishing works. The only difference is to apply the wax. When you apply decorative plaster for exterior works coat it with CERA FRONTALE and for interior works with CERA.
The texture of the finished stone is quite simple and is a rough surface with small smooth spots. That’s why the technique of application of façade plaster like travertine is not used for complicated variants. Let’s have a detailed view of the process of application.
You shall prepare the surface before applying TRAVERTINO:
1. Stabilization of the base surface.
TRAVERTINO is a hard plaster that wouldn’t stick to a loose surface. Everything that moves and waves under your push or tool strikes shall be removed:
2. Cracks removal.
A cracked wall is an unappropriated surface for decorating plaster. If the gap is badly fixed, it will reappear and rip the new coating.

3. Preparing the surface
Make the surface even, dry and clean from dust beforehand. Then prime it with AQUA PRIMER (concentrated primer 1:10). After drying (less than 2 hours), apply the adhesion primer with quartz filler (QUARTZ PRIMER). Use the roller with the medium nap. The drying period is 24 hours.
The main purpose of priming is to harden the base surface and increase the adhesion of materials.
4. Apply the main coat of TRAVERTINO.
At this stage form a rough texture of stone. There are several application techniques and the results are various.

5. Polishing and flattening.
After forming a rough shagreen surface, it is flattened with a trowel. Do it before the decorative plaster shall get dry. The tool shall press the surface slightly without effort. The direction of flatting is recommended along the pattern. After this polishing, the surface has smooth areas together with small pits and rough particles. The plaster dries in 24 hours, though it achieves complete hardening in 28 days.
6. Wax applying
It is necessary to apply a finishing coat of decorative wax CERA FRONTALE to add plaster TRAVERTINO maximal traits. It adds a gloss of a polished stone and can additionally shade the plaster and emphasize the texture. Apply the wax with a finishing brush, a roller, a sponge, a spatula or a brush. This product dries quickly to the touch and dries completely in 12 hours.
